Under Construction!!!!! I'm updating the Year 2 Pages as the year progresses to reflect the changes in the specs. Bear with me :)

Component 1

1.1 ATP

Adenosine triphosphate, coenzyme used as an energy carrier in the cells of all known organisms

1.3 Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis (from the Greek photo-, "light," and synthesis, "putting together", "composition") is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert the light energy captured from the sun into chemical energy that can be used to fuel the organism's activities

and this is information on photosynthesis from Biology online

Sorry it's not this simple at A-level

4.4 Microbiology

Microbiology (from Greek mīkros, "small"; bios, "life"; and -logia) is the study of microscopic organisms. It's also what my PhD is in!

Society of General Microbiology (SGM) have all the info on their website that a budding (poor pun there) microbiologist could want. Their Links page is very comprehensive too.

Microbiology online (from SGM) has loads of resources for students and teachers. The teacher section is very good. Don't be afraid of doing microbiology pracs in even the most basic of labs. It's not scary or dangerous!

4.5 Factors affecting population size

A population is all the organisms of the same group or species who live in the same geographical area and are capable of interbreeding.
